The passing of the new bill will hopefully help to better business practices regarding tow storage fees and help protect consumers when they are towed.
A new bill signed in California bans "unreasonable" fees sometimes charge by tow companies. These questionable fees are addressed by the Assembly Bill 2392 by outlining what storage costs are deemed as "reasonable" and banning certain fees such as security fees, gate fees, and loading or unloading fees. The bill also grants the owner the ability to have their insurer inspect the vehicle without penalties.
