Diesel particulate filters were implemented in 2007 by the California Air Resources board to help the environment by removing soot and diesel particulates from diesel trucks. California trucking companies now claim that the filters are causing expensive damages due to dangerous exhaust fires. The companies have filed a lawsuit against the state to challenge the 2007 requirement. Claimants believe that the lawsuit in Sacramento County has enough evidence to prove the filters caused the fires and that they are entitled to restitution.
