Uber, the ride-hailing giant takes a step forward in dominating the trucking industry by announcing their operation of self-driving trucks in Arizona.
By using a transfer hub model, the trucks drive autonomously on highways, while human drivers take over for the last mile.
Currently, their self-driving trucks aren’t advanced enough for dock-to-dock runs, thus requiring a safety driver to remain behind the wheel during operation.  According to Uber, the use of robot trucks will add more jobs, in the short term, but what does this mean for truckers in the long run?
In our ever-advancing world of technological advances, how will the climate change for those affected by automation and robotics?

Apart for the changing climatic conditions for those affected by robotics, we should be asking how these technologies will fare with the actual climate change. Incidents of snow storms, blizzards and cyclones are on a rise every year, and most number of accidents happens during such times. Will these self-driving trucks be able to adapt to harsh climates?

I am inclined to agree and assume the technology is still far from being able to account for so much, including your points. Seeing how self driving vehicles had a massive failure in Arizona last week, that led to a fatality, I wonder how long it will be before they can account for so many extenuating variables.
